My name is Michelle de Klerk. I am a Mom and a MiMi with a little bit of an age gap between #1 and #2 which explains how I have grand-daughters and kids the same age. My husband Damien is my biggest support. The only time I get push back from him is when I make too many chicken recipes or make him eat too many vegetables. He and Charlize, my middle child, definitely keep me on my toes when it comes to finding healthy recipes that the whole family loves. My son Garrett is pretty easy to please….we all need at least one in the house.

More About Me

I have always enjoyed exercising, but haven’t always eaten healthy. I am a Texas girl which means HUGE portions and we haven’t met a food that we can’t fry. Needless to say once I graduated High School and stopped playing competitive sports the weight slowly started creeping up. After college I got things back under control by eating Lean Cuisines, low/no fat foods and finally getting back to my exercising. I still didn’t know what it meant to eat healthy, but being in my 20’s I was able to drop the weight anyways. I spent hours at the gym, training for half marathons and marathons or just playing soccer. Fast forward to my late 30’s and early 40’s when I get married and have Charlize and Garrett. No time for all of that exercise I use to do and my new love was Food Network. I was making lots of yummy meals, but they were still not healthy and my portions were out of whack! I started teaching a Spin class at the gym and training for my last half marathon. Unlike before the weight did not want to come off. I did not like the person I saw in the mirror. It didn’t matter how many times Damien told me I was beautiful I didn’t believe it.

Damien got us Insanity and together we did our first round. SUCCESS! I lost 15 lbs in the 60 days and I started to believe in myself again. Next came TurboFire and I added Shakeology to my regime and the goal weight I had given up on ever seeing again became a reality! I was me again. The person that I saw on the inside became the person that I saw when I looked into the mirror. I stood taller, smiled bigger and no longer hid behind the camera.

Along the way I have learned how to eat healthier foods that taste just as good and more importantly I have learned about portion sizes. Nutrition is so critical to our overall health, but it is especially important when it comes to losing weight as we age. Now I want to share what I have learned with you and help you stand taller and smile bigger! I also had to learn that it is okay to take care of myself and by doing so I was teaching my kids how to be healthy as well.
